The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, pending a full-scale investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving students at the school.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 14 and signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service, the GES said Abdulai had been directed to proceed on interdiction with immediate effect and make himself available to assist with the investigation.
He has also been instructed to hand over the management of the school to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education.
The allegations reportedly triggered a student rampage that resulted in the destruction of school property and other items, leading to the temporary closure of the school.
The GES said a complaint had been lodged with the police as investigations into the matter got underway.
Management assured students, parents and the public of its commitment to protecting the safety of students and staff while upholding professional standards in educational institutions.
The allegations against the headmaster have not been established, and the investigation is expected to determine the facts of the case.
