Benkumhene of Buoyem in the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region, Nana Ameyaw Antwi-Boasiako, has appealed to the chiefs and people of the Techiman Traditional Area to partner with the Catholic Church to construct an ultramodern storey ward complex for the Holy Family Catholic Hospital in Techiman.

Nana Ameyaw said the proposed facility would expand the hospital’s capacity to accommodate patients and help address the persistent challenge of inadequate bed space at the health facility.

He made the appeal on Sunday, August 30, 2026, when he addressed residents and guests during the 2026 Fofie Yam Festival celebration at his palace in Buoyem, within the Techiman Traditional Area.

According to him, the increasing number of patients seeking healthcare services required a corresponding expansion of health infrastructure to ensure that patients received timely and appropriate care.

He proposed that the completed ward complex be named after the Paramount Chief of the Techiman Traditional Area, Oseadeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, in recognition of his leadership and contribution to the development of the area.

Nana Ameyaw stressed that the development and improvement of healthcare infrastructure should be regarded as a collective responsibility involving traditional authorities, religious organisations, businesses, philanthropists and the wider community.

He noted that health facilities were under increasing pressure as a result of the growing demand for medical services, making the expansion of existing infrastructure necessary.

The Benkumhene therefore urged the chiefs and people of the Techiman Traditional Area to work closely with the Catholic Church to turn the proposed project into reality.

He also appealed to philanthropists, corporate organisations and other well-meaning individuals and institutions to contribute financial and material resources towards the construction of the facility.

Nana Ameyaw expressed confidence that a successful partnership between the traditional authorities and the Catholic Church, supported by individuals and corporate organisations, could provide the hospital with the additional infrastructure needed to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

The Holy Family Catholic Hospital is an important healthcare facility serving residents of Techiman and surrounding communities, making the proposed expansion significant to efforts to improve access to healthcare in the area.
