The Ghana Police Service has intensified its enforcement campaign against the unauthorised use of sirens, horns, strobe lights, improvised headlamps and other illegal vehicle modifications in the Ashanti Region as part of efforts to improve road safety and enforce traffic regulations.
The special operation was carried out by the Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) with support from the Central MTTD in Accra and a team from the Police National Headquarters.
The exercise took place at the Airport Roundabout and Santasi Roundabout in Kumasi, where officers targeted motorists flouting road traffic laws.
According to the police, a total of 188 vehicles were intercepted for various traffic offences during the operation.
Authorities removed and confiscated unauthorised sirens, horns, strobe lights and improvised headlamps found on offending vehicles. Drivers were also educated on the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulations and cautioned to comply with the law to avoid future sanctions.

Police urged all motorists to comply with traffic laws and regulations, warning that offenders would continue to face enforcement actions as the nationwide exercise progresses.
