Madam Gladys Murphy, a health promotion officer at Abrafi Women and Children Hospital in Techiman, has urged the public to make regular blood pressure checks a priority in order to prevent sudden deaths and other serious health complications.

Speaking on ASTA FM’s Kokrokoo Morning Show, Madam Murphy stressed the importance of individuals knowing and monitoring their blood pressure levels consistently.

She explained that hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is widely referred to as a “silent killer” because many people do not experience noticeable symptoms until severe medical complications occur.

According to her, frequent blood pressure screening helps with early detection of potential health problems and allows individuals to seek timely medical care before conditions worsen.

Madam Murphy further advised Ghanaians to embrace healthy lifestyles to reduce the risk of hypertension and related illnesses. She recommended reducing salt intake, engaging in regular physical exercise, limiting alcohol consumption, managing stress effectively, and attending routine medical check-ups.

She also encouraged families to take health screening seriously and support one another in maintaining healthy habits to help curb the growing number of hypertension-related cases in the country.
