A young man believed to be in his 20’s has drowned in the Oti River in the Krachi Nchumuru district of the Oti Region.
The unfortunate incident which happened over the weekend left many in shock.
Speaking to IGNEWSS, the director of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Boffour Elija Bawah narrated that, the late driver’s assistant by name Attah Donkor was swimming in the Oti River when the unfortunate incident happened.
According to him, the young man decided to “cool down” his body in the river while they were awaiting the ferry to finish loading.
Some of the eyewitnesses who spoke to our reporter off camera expressed shock on the development as efforts made by people around to rescue the victim yielded no positive results.
The late Attah Donkor is a native of Borae Number 2 in the Krachi-Nchumuru District of the Oti Region.
Efforts of some fisherfolk helped to retrieve the body for burial after performing some necessary traditional rites.
