The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested five (5) suspects and identified a sixth suspect as deceased in connection with an alleged armed robbery syndicate operating in parts of Wa West District and Wa Municipality.
According to the statement dated August 11, 2026, the arrests followed months of intelligence-led operations targeting a group allegedly involved in armed robberies in the region.
Police said the suspects were linked to a pattern of attacks in which victims were allegedly assaulted and forced to disclose their Mobile Money (MoMo) Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) which were then used to transfer money from their accounts.
The suspects named in the statement are Amadu Moro, 35, Adama Yussif, 40, Nasiru Abdul Rahman, 52, who is deceased, Iddrissu Adama, 35, Korika Issaka, 20 and Zakaria Brigi, 21.
Preliminary investigations have linked Adama Yussif, Amadu Moro and the deceased Nasiru Abdul Rahman to reported robbery incidents at Kpenateng Junction on August 1, 2026, Kulkpara-Dapoha on June 19, 2026, Kpenateng Community on June 15 and May 23, 2026 and Piisi-Dapoha on March 27, 2026.
Police investigations have so far established that approximately GH¢22,070 in cash was allegedly stolen from victims while an additional GH¢3,274 was reportedly transferred through the victims’ MoMo accounts.
The command also said a total of seven (7) mobile phones had been retrieved from the suspects and were undergoing further examination as investigations continued.
The Upper West Regional Police Command said the operation forms part of efforts to dismantle armed robbery networks and bring suspected offenders to justice.
