The Accra Regional Police Command, working jointly with the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID), has arrested five (5) suspected members of an alleged armed robbery syndicate during an intelligence-led operation at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region.
The operation, which forms part of ongoing efforts to combat violent crime, resulted in the recovery of firearms, ammunition and other items believed to have been used in criminal activities.
According to a police statement issued on July 20, 2026, the suspects were arrested on July 17 after intelligence gathered by investigators led security personnel to their hideout.
The suspects have been identified as Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50, Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22, William Kweku Sedanu, 21, Cyril Kassenu, 26 and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of a pump-action shotgun, a Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, a dummy Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, twelve BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one round of 7.62×39mm AK-47 ammunition, a talisman and two kitchen knives. All the items have been retained as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.
Police said preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are linked to a criminal group believed to be involved in armed robbery and landguard activities within the Sapeiman area and surrounding communities.
Investigators also suspect the recovered weapons may have been used in a number of attacks that have terrorised residents in the locality.
The five suspects remain in police custody while investigators work to determine their possible involvement in other criminal offences and identify additional accomplices connected to the alleged syndicate.
The Accra Regional Police Command appealed to the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by providing credible and timely information on criminal activities.
It also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the police emergency lines.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order across the Greater Accra Region.
