Krachi Nchumuru district holds DISEC meeting to end land dispute

The Krachi Nchumuru district Assembly of the Oti region has held a District Security Council (DISEC) meeting after a land dispute which led to the death of three (3) persons.

On Novermber 19, 2022, a group of unknown assailants attacked and killed the chief of Boare Ahenfie, Nana Meebo II and two others over a piece of land.

According to information gathered IGNEWSS reporter, the land belongs to the deceased Nana Meebo II but some Konkomba people are also claiming ownership.

The matter was then taken to the Krachi Magistrate court and court declared Nana Meebo II to be the rightful owner of the land.

On November 19, 2022, Nana Meebo II and some residents went to the land to work when a group believed to Kokombas allegedly attacked them and later went to destroy their properties.

After the incident, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Krachi Nchumuru, Kwesi Nkrumah Ogyile visited the deceased family and assured them of bringing to book the assailants to face the law.

The Nchumuru district security council has since deployed number of police personnel to patrol and protect lives and prosperities.

After the meeting, the DCE Kwesi Nkrumah Ogyile said a team from the national Ghana police service headquarters of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) are assisting the assembly with patrolling in the community.

Mr Ogyile said, the personnel from the FPU will aid officers in the district to arrest suspects who are currently on the run.

He also assured residents of protection to enable them to perform their daily activities.

The assembly has called on victims whose properties were destroyed to report officially to the assembly for support.

Meanwhile, all residents from the Kokomba tribe have fled the community since the day of the incident.
