The principal of Ho Technical Institute, Justice Arthur, has vehemently called for prompt response from stakeholders of the Ho Technical Institute (HTI) to fast truck development of the school to enhance proper security and skill acquisitions by the students.
He noted that the school since the introduction of the free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the computerized school selection system into the Ghanaian Education System has help the institution to increase tremendously in enrollments hence proactive approach needed to enhance infrastructure deficit in the school.
During the school’s first graduation ceremony on Saturday, September 9, Mr. Arthur mentioned issues such as inadequate classroom infrastructure, inadequate dormitory facilities, and a lack of student desks, tables, and beds as some of the major challenges the institution was facing.
He also mentioned the absence of staff bathrooms, student restrooms, workshops for student practical’s, a library, an ICT lab, a dining hall, a common area for staff, and bungalows as part of the challenges faced by the institution.
The principal further that the constant encroachment by motorists, land encroachment-related concerns, lack of a school bus and pick-up service, among other things, were all impeding the school’s success in various ways.
Mr. Arthur highlighted several people’s philanthropic efforts in helping the institution while pleading with stakeholders to help.
“The institution has seen some developments in the past few years and in recent times. Management of the institution took the initiative to construct a fence wall with the able support of the Building Construction technology students. Other internal mechanisms have been put in place to restructure the institution.
He acknowledged the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dorlyne Company Ltd, Mr. Christian Hokey for his philanthropic support of constructing a kitchen for the institution at a time when the school was in a dire need and appealed for his support.
He also thanked the Municipal Chief Executive of Ho Municipal Assembly, Hon. Divine R.K Bosson for donating 30 student desk to the institution and the very good plans he has for the institution and the Vice Chancellor of Ho Technical University for also donating 15 long tables and benches to the institution.
He however called on the Municipal Chief Executive MCE of Ho, the Chief of Ho Dome, the Ghana TVET Service, benevolent entities as well as other stakeholders to aid the school with the needed support to enhance quality teaching and learning in the school.
