CoMSSA- UPSA Conference explores future of Public Relations and Communication.

The Communication and Media Studies Students’ Association (CoMSSA) at the University for Professional Studies Accra-UPSA, in collaboration with the Students Coordination Chapter of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana-IPR, hosted a thought-provoking conference on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the LBC auditorium UPSA.

The event aimed to redefine public relations and communication in today’s dynamic world, under the theme “Elevate and Innovate: Redefining Public Relations and Communication in A Dynamic World,” brought together industry experts, academics, and students to discuss the evolving landscape of PR and communication.

The conference commenced with the CEO of eTransact Ghana Limited, Mr. John Apea, delving into the historical context of public relations and highlighting the challenges faced by professionals in the field.

Emphasizing the significance of technology in modern PR practices, he explored emerging trends and the future outlook of public relations in a rapidly changing digital age.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer of Jospong Group of Companies, Ms. Sophia Kudjordji, then captivated the audience with insights on crafting connections in PR and the power of storytelling.

By emphasizing the importance of narrative in effective communication strategies, she shed light on the transformative potential of compelling storytelling in building relationships and engaging audiences.

She challenged young practitioners to create the desired perception through storytelling, emphasizing their role as masters of storytelling.

President of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, also admonished aspiring PR and Communication experts to elevate and uphold the values of the organizations they would find themselves in.

Overall, the conference provided a platform for engaging discussions and innovative ideas on reshaping the landscape of public relations and communication.

A delegation from the Communication and Media Studies Students’ Association – University of Education, Winneba, and KNUST honored the invitation from CoMSSA – UPSA.

The conference was part of the Association’s 2024-week celebration packed with educative and entertaining activities.
