Hon. James Etornam Flolu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Afadzato South in the Volta region, has charged School authorities in the district to take good care of desk donated to them.
His caution came at a ceremony held to handover some one thousand (1,000) dual desks to the District Directorate of Education for onward distribution to various public schools within the Afadzato South District.
This number represents part of the two thousand five hundred (2500) dual desks earmarked for distribution to schools within the district this year.
Mr. Flolu noted that, funds are unavailable to order for any set of desks any time soon due to the economic challenge the country is currently facing.
He further stated that, benefited schools should apply strict maintainance culture which, in the long run, will improve academic lives of school children.
“The school that will not take a very good care of the desks will therefore be forced to provide for themselves the amenity whenever they get broken down without proper check and mentainance at this shortest possible time”. He said.
Present at the brief ceremony were District Director of Education, District Coordinating Director, District Director of National Identification Authority (NIA), officials of Afadzato South District Assembly, District Police Commander, Assembly Members and the NPP constituency Executives.
On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Hon. James Flolu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Afadzato South revealed the Assembly’s plans to distribute some one thousand (1,000) classroom desks to schools in the district by August this year.
This was captured in his address during the Afadzato South Inter-Circuit Reading Festival at Ve-Agbome.
The initiative, he said, is a step further in fulfilling his promise that every student within the Afadzato South District get furniture to use in schools.
The DCE also indicated that, the assembly will rehabilitate a school building that is at the verge of collapsing and posing death threat to students at Kpeve Old Town.
